The US Department of Labor for the first time since 2011 included Uzbekistan in the best category of "significant progress" in the effectiveness of efforts to end the worst forms of child labour, in its TDA Report.
According to the channel "Nigoh" on Telegram, the report emphasizes that this was achieved due to the effective state policy of combating forced and child labour, as well as the strengthening of criminal liability in this area in full accordance with international standards.
"Uzbekistan is really becoming a model country that can achieve impressive progress in a short period of time," said Marcia Eugenio, head of the US Department of Labor's Office of Child and Forced Labor.
In addition, taking into account the achievements of Uzbekistan, the US Department of Labor announced that cotton produced in the country will be removed from the list of products produced using child and forced labor.
According to the report, this decision will cancel the official restrictions imposed on the import of cotton and cotton products produced in Uzbekistan to the USA, thereby opening new opportunities for the export of textile products.
