Samarkand. Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who participated in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This was reported by the press service of the president.
First, Uzbek President congratulated the high-ranking guest on the 75th anniversary of India's independence and indicated the rise in mutual trade that hit 30% since the beginning of this year.
The presidents agreed to shoot up bilateral trade to 1 billion dollars in the coming years. It was said that it is necessary to quickly accept and implement the cooperation programs in the trade-economic, investment, science and education spheres, as well as the investment promotion and mutual protection agreement.
Uzbekistan is also interested in strengthening transport relations with India, including using the port of "Chobahor".
The results of the first India-Central Asia online summit were highly appreciated. The Indian side was thanked for supporting the resolution of the UN General Assembly on strengthening the interdependence between Central and South Asia.
The state leaders expressed their concerns on the issues of providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and assisting in its economic recovery. Narendra Modi welcomed Uzbekistan's efforts in this regard. It was agreed to take additional measures to promote joint projects and programs in the priority areas of cooperation.
