Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace and Public Health Service of Uzbekistan (SEPPHSU) has reported that 40 people died overnight due to cholera in southern Afghanistan. SEPPHSU provided information about the measures taken to prevent the spread of this disease.
54 sanitary quarantine points (SKP) are operating across the republic today at the crossings of state borders. 36 are on highways, 11 at international airports, 6 at railways, and 1 at a river port that is equipped with advanced thermal imaging cameras and non-contact thermometers.
The special laboratories of the sanitary-epidemiological service are sufficiently supplied with the necessary equipment, reagents and nutrient media for the diagnosis of cholera.
Every week samples are taken from open water bodies and tested for cholera agents (NAG and AG vibrios). A reserve of medical places has been established for the purpose of admitting patients with (suspected) diseases to the infectious diseases hospital. A reserve of necessary medicines was created to organize the treatment of cholera patients.
