President Mirziyoyev has appointed Sardor Umurzokov the head of the administration of the President of Uzbekistan and dismissed him from Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Foreign Economic Affairs as well as Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade positions.
Sardor Umurzakov was born on November 23, 1977, in Tashkent. Right after finishing his bachelor's degree (1998) at the Tashkent State University of Economics, Umurzakov studied at the University of Reading (Great Britain) and received a master's degree in "Banking".
From 2000-2003, he started his career at the National Bank of Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU). Soon after, Sardor Umurzakov was promoted to the head of the Investment Management Department. In 2003, he was appointed deputy director of the Samarkand branch of NBU.
From 2004 to 2007, he lived in London and worked as a senior banker in the financial institutions business group of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Between 2007 to 2013, he held some key positions in the Treasury of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan: deputy head of the Treasury Department of Tashkent city, then - head, and later - the head of the Treasury Department of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Then as the first deputy head of the Treasury of the Ministry of Finance.
From 2014 to 2017 he became an adviser to the chairman of the "Uzbekcharmpoyabzal" association. Later (in 2017-2018) he worked as the deputy chairman of the Board of this association. Then, in 2018-2019, he served as the chairman of the newly formed "Uzcharmsanoat" association, former "Uzbekcharmpoyabzal".
On January 28, 2019, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sardor Umurzakov was appointed the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
