The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan announced the commencement of a 300-tonne humanitarian aid delivery to Kazakhstan. This operation, designated as the "Caravan of Products," is being carried out following an order from President Sadyr Japarov. The objective is to provide support to the Kazakh population affected by recent flooding incidents.
The aid convoy, which departed for Kazakhstan at 4 a.m. (GMT+6)on April 6, carries a range of essential items intended to meet the immediate needs of the affected individuals. The consignment includes basic food supplies such as sunflower oil, sugar, rice, pasta, and confectionery products. Additionally, it comprises locally manufactured mattresses, clothes, and tents, aimed at addressing the requirements for shelter and clothing among the displaced populations.
Kazakhstan experienced significant material damage due to spring floods, affecting a large portion of the country's territory. Official reports indicate that around 16,000 residents were evacuated from the flood-impacted zones, with over 6,000 of these being children.
Furthermore, more than 4,000 individuals are currently housed in temporary accommodation facilities. The floods have resulted in approximately 3,200 homes being submerged, and around 70 settlements have been isolated due to disrupted transport connections.
