At the direction of the president of the Kyrgyz Republic, a sum of KGS 1bn ($11.2mn) has been earmarked for the comprehensive development of Kara-Balta and Tokmok, two pivotal cities in the Chui region, Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan reported. This initiative aims to bolster infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
In a recent meeting chaired by Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President, key stakeholders discussed strategies to address pressing developmental needs in Kara-Balta and Tokmok. The allocated budget will be directed towards a wide array of projects aimed at revitalizing various aspects of urban life.
In Kara-Balta, the funds will be utilized to establish crucial infrastructure, including the construction of an asphalt and concrete plant, a stone-crushing facility, and the acquisition of road construction equipment. Additionally, plans include the creation of a municipal market, the renovation of the central stadium, and the enhancement of public spaces such as parks. Improvements to the water supply and sewerage system, alongside the construction of a kindergarten, underline the comprehensive nature of the development agenda.
Meanwhile, in Tokmok, attention will be focused on bolstering the industrial zone infrastructure, with projects including the establishment of a concrete plant and the modernization of the municipal enterprise, "Tokmok Zhyluuluk". Similar to Kara-Balta, efforts will be made to enhance transportation infrastructure through the construction of an asphalt concrete plant and the procurement of specialized equipment.
Urban beautification initiatives, such as park improvements and the renovation of the central market, will also be undertaken. Moreover, plans include the development of tourism infrastructure, including a tourist complex along the Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart bypass road.
Expressing his optimism about the potential impact of these investments, Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized the importance of Kara-Balta and Tokmok as vital hubs of economic and industrial activity within the Chui region. He underscored the importance of executing the proposed projects in a timely and efficient manner to maximize their benefits.
“Kara-Balta and Tokmok are two centers of economic and industrial development in the Chui region. We expect that the allocated funds will have a positive impact on the development of these cities,” Zhaparov shared.
Local authorities and relevant government bodies have been tasked with implementing the outlined projects, with Zhaparov providing clear directives to ensure their successful execution. The injection of substantial funds into these cities signifies a commitment to fostering sustainable development and improving the lives of their inhabitants.
