Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abduhakimov, held a key meeting with Andrew Gray, the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Uzbekistan. The talks centered around advancing environmental initiatives and addressing migration issues in the context of climate change.

A key topic of discussion was the proposal to adopt the "Silk Road Declaration," aimed at increasing human resilience to climate change. The document is set to be approved at the First Samarkand Climate Forum, scheduled for April 4-5, 2025, in Samarkand.
The meeting culminated in the signing of an action plan for the joint project "Supporting the Implementation of the National Adaptation Plan and Assessing the Impact of Temperature Increases and Heat Waves on Migrants' Health." The project, set to run from February 2025 to May 2026, will focus on the following key areas:
- Conducting bilateral briefings on migration, ecology, and climate change.
- Mapping and analyzing national laws, regulations, strategies, and plans related to climate change and migration in Uzbekistan.

- Developing recommendations on mitigating the health impacts of temperature increases and heat waves on migrants and their families.
- Implementing other activities to reduce the adverse effects of climate change.
In addition, to strengthen cooperation, Minister Abduhakimov suggested exploring migration issues in mountainous regions, particularly in light of climate change. He proposed conducting joint research and contributing to the Territorial Green Development Concept, which will be presented at the Climate Conference in Samarkand.
