An explosion occurred on January 5 in the village of Arka-2, located on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, injuring a mother and her 12-year-old daughter. The incident was reported by “24.kg” and confirmed by Kyrgyzstan’s State Security Committee.
According to preliminary information, the explosion took place when the woman, identified as N.A., was cleaning under the porch of her house, where old building materials and ironwork had been stored. During her cleaning, she discovered an unexploded device, believed to be a shell, which detonated. Both N.A. and her daughter were injured in the blast and were taken to the hospital. Their condition is currently stable.
The explosion site was quickly secured by engineers from Kyrgyzstan’s State Security Service, and law enforcement officers are investigating the incident. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Representatives from both Kyrgyz and Tajik law enforcement agencies have met to discuss the incident, with Tajik officials being informed about the explosion.
Kyrgyzstan’s State Security Service has urged residents living near the border to be cautious. They are advised not to touch any suspicious objects and to report them immediately to border units or law enforcement.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the origin of the explosive device and any potential links to the broader security situation in the region.
