During a working visit to Riyadh, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan met with Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) on November 11, to discuss potential collaboration, including the SFD’s consideration of a $50mn allocation for constructing 38 public schools in Kyrgyzstan. This proposed funding aims to improve access to quality education across the country.
In addition to education projects, President Japarov expressed appreciation for the SFD’s ongoing support of Kyrgyzstan’s development initiatives in various fields. He proposed an increase in financing for the second phase of the state-backed mortgage program to address growing housing needs.
Al-Marshad affirmed the SFD’s willingness to expand its cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and reiterated the Fund’s commitment to supporting projects that promote sustainable growth. He emphasized the SFD’s dedication to advancing bilateral ties in key sectors, including infrastructure, housing, and education.
This meeting highlights Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to deepen relations in Central Asia through targeted investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. President Japarov concluded by inviting Al-Marshad to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, signaling a commitment to further collaboration on national development goals.
