Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers approves transition to 12-year education system. In line with modern educational trends, the content of education will be revised. This is aimed at fostering a competitive human capital that can contribute to the economic prosperity of the country. As part of the transition to a 12-year education system, 100% of children aged 5-6 years will be included in compulsory schooling.
The primary objective of this decision is to enhance the functional literacy and competencies of students. This will be achieved by embracing globally accepted educational trends and modifying the duration of education within the school's general education system.
Teachers who are currently implementing the preschool preparation program will continue their roles in the first grades under the new 12-year education system. They will also undergo special advanced training courses to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for this transition.
As of now, more than 4,048 classrooms have been set up for pre-school preparation in secondary schools. These classrooms are furnished and equipped with teaching aids that are suitable for the age characteristics of children. The issue of additional student places will be addressed in collaboration with local authorities, based on an inventory of school buildings and their material and technical equipment.
