Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan's airport management companies have joined Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe), enhancing the region's integration into the global aviation community.
Uzbekistan Airports, the state-run company overseeing 11 airports across Uzbekistan, has re-established its ties with ACI Europe. The cooperation had been disrupted during the pandemic, but now Uzbekistan’s airport network, including major hubs such as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Navoi, is once again integrated into the influential organization. This reconnection strengthens the country's role in global aviation and opens avenues for improved standards and innovations in airport management.
Similarly, Kyrgyzstan's MAM (Management of Airports of the Kyrgyz Republic) has also joined ACI Europe. MAM manages 11 airports in the country, including five international ones—Manas (Bishkek), Osh, Issyk-Kul, Karakol, and Batken—and six regional airports: Jalal-Abad, Isfana, Karavan, Kazarman, Naryn, and Talas. This membership is a significant step in Kyrgyzstan's ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its air transport infrastructure.
ACI Europe, representing over 500 airports in 55 countries, is pivotal in influencing air transport policy and best practices, overseeing more than 90% of Europe’s commercial air traffic. The membership offers airports access to crucial industry insights, data, and opportunities for collaboration with top global players.
With their new membership, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan’s airports will gain valuable resources and opportunities to exchange knowledge and best practices. This development is set to improve airport operations in both countries, positioning them as influential players in the global aviation network and enhancing the travel experience for passengers in Central Asia.
