President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh of Mongolia shared that over 40 national manufacturers and leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises have arrived in Uzbekistan to explore new market opportunities, as he embarked on a historic state visit to the Central Asian nation.
This visit, extending from June 23 to June 26, marks the first such visit by a Mongolian head of state to Uzbekistan, highlighting a step in bilateral relations aimed at bolstering economic ties and exploring untapped market potential.
Accompanied by his wife, Luvsandorj Bolortsetseg, President Khurelsukh's arrival was welcomed by Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other dignitaries at Tashkent International Airport. The agenda for the visit includes discussions on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, including mining, agriculture, and tourism.
In 2022, Mongolia's exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $44.4mn, featuring key products such as sheep and goat meat, polyacetals, and frozen bovine meat. Over the past five years, Mongolia has steadily increased its exports to Uzbekistan at an annualized rate of 7.5%, reflecting growing economic ties between the two nations.
Political analysts have pointed out the strategic importance of this visit in the context of Mongolia's geopolitical landscape. Kamoliddin Rabbimov, a prominent political scientist, noted that Mongolia, with its small population and positioned between two influential neighbors, China and Russia, seeks to diversify its economic partnerships for sustained growth and stability.
President Khurelsukh's discussions with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are expected to yield agreements aimed at fostering deeper collaboration in trade, cultural exchanges, and regional security.
