Kazakhstan has ratified an agreement with Uzbekistan to enhance allied relations, as announced by Akorda and reported by Zakon.kz.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed into law the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on allied relations. This follows the Senate's ratification of the Treaty on April 25.
The Treaty outlines expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan across various sectors, including political, trade, economic, transit, transport, energy, cultural, and humanitarian fields. Collaboration in civil defense and energy, as well as strengthening interactions on the international stage are also part of this agreement.
Key provisions of the agreement include fostering stronger ties between the parliaments, political parties, and public organizations of both countries. The two nations under the agreement will also work closely in foreign policy, defense, and security, addressing common challenges such as international terrorism, religious extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, illegal migration, human trafficking, and the illicit trafficking of weapons, narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors.
In addition to the Treaty on allied relations, President Tokayev signed into law the ratification of the Protocol on amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the conditions of mutual trips of citizens, originally dated July 7, 2000. This protocol aims to facilitate mutual visits and strengthen people-to-people connections between the two nations.
