To stabilize the domestic market and address potential price fluctuations during off-seasons, QazTrade has inked agreements with 12 regions for the supply of approximately 4,000 tons of early vegetables. This step was announced following a meeting chaired by First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration, Aizhan Bizhanova.
The initiative stems from directives issued by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, who emphasized the importance of direct contracting with suppliers from neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
QazTrade has swiftly responded to this directive by securing agreements with key stakeholders, including UZTRADE of Uzbekistan, the Agency for State and Material Reserves under the Government of Tajikistan, and the State Unitary Enterprise Tajagropromexport.
First Deputy General Director of QazTrade, Nurlan Kulbatyrov, affirmed the completion of all necessary arrangements for vegetable supply. He underscored ongoing efforts to address logistical challenges and optimize the cost of vegetable products.
Despite these proactive measures, concerns were raised regarding the lukewarm response from regional authorities in contracting early vegetables. First Vice Minister Aizhan Bizhanova expressed disappointment over the low interest shown by the regions and emphasized the importance of timely contract conclusion to ensure uninterrupted supply and price stabilization.
"To stabilize prices, the regions have been given orders for the purchase of early vegetables. In this regard, akimats (city administration) need to conclude contracts in a timely manner and ensure uninterrupted supply of products," summarized Aizhan Bizhanova.
The agreements mark a step towards ensuring food security and stability in the domestic market, aligning with the government's efforts to mitigate the impact of seasonal fluctuations on consumer prices.
