The Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan is set to commemorate Europe Day and three decades of partnership between the European Union and Uzbekistan with a grand public festival and concert. Entitled "30 Years of European Union - Uzbekistan Partnership," the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 18, at the picturesque Tashkent Botanical Garden.
The festival, exhibition, and gala concert herald the beginning of a year-long celebration marking the enduring relationship between the European Union and Uzbekistan, which commenced in 1994. This partnership has seen developments across various sectors, including politics, trade, and societal engagement.
Highlighting the importance of this milestone, Charlotte Adriaen, Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, expressed pride in the achievements and strengthened ties between the two entities. She underscored the dynamic nature of the bilateral relations, citing numerous high-level encounters, including the visit of President of the European Council Charles Michel to Uzbekistan in 2022.
“Our work in Uzbekistan is best exemplified through our dynamic projects spanning democratic governance, digital innovation, inclusive growth, sustainable agriculture, women’s rights, connectivity, and more. Our enduring partnership thrives on shared values and common goals. The European Union is unwavering in its support towards a sustainable Uzbekistan and a better future for its people. I extend a warm invitation to all the friends of the European Union to join us on Saturday, 18 May, at the Botanical Garden to celebrate this historic milestone,” Charlotte Adriaen voiced.
The festivities will commence at 14:00 local time, opening the doors of the Botanical Garden to the public. The exhibition of EU-funded projects, featuring over 40 initiatives covering a diverse array of sectors such as trade, human rights, education, and environmental resilience, will offer an interactive platform for attendees to engage with the projects shaping Uzbekistan's future.
A series of special activities, including climate change games, educational quizzes, and product tastings, will provide opportunities for participants to delve deeper into the initiatives showcased.
Concurrently, the festival will feature a vibrant program tailored for families, children, and youth, comprising EU-themed quizzes, team games, painting workshops, and dance sessions symbolizing the cultural partnership between the European Union and Uzbekistan.
The pinnacle of the event will be the Gala Concert Celebrating 30 Years of European Union – Uzbekistan Partnership, scheduled for 17:30 at the Botanical Garden amphitheater. The concert boasts a lineup of dynamic performers, including renowned bands and rising stars, promising an evening of contemporary music and celebration.
