The Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslahaty) of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, plans to visit Tajikistan, the press service of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan reports.
The visit, which begins on 4 April, will include a high-level meeting to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation.
The delegation's visit also coincides with the Days of Turkmen Culture in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Creative performances, art exhibitions and the Friendship Evening, a joint concert by the two countries' best groups, are planned.
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat is linking a number of its regional prospects with Dushanbe. Through the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan (TAT) railway, Turkmenistan hopes to reach China and from there the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, a fourth branch of a transnational gas pipeline from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to China is under construction through Tajikistan.
The talks are expected to focus on cooperation in transit logistics and increasing mutual trade.
