The organizers of the terroristic attack on Crocus City Hall in the Moscow Region were concurrently planning another assault in a Central Asian country, Izvestiya reported. However, this secondary attack was successfully prevented. The country targeted for this simultaneous attack remains undisclosed.
The assailants used ordinary gasoline to set the concert hall ablaze. En route to Crocus City Hall, they stopped at a gas station, purchased gasoline, and transferred it into plastic bottles. This gasoline was later used to ignite the hall.
The group behind these attacks was not a traditionally organized terrorist cell. It was assembled just a few weeks before the attack. Two members of the group received directives during a trip to Turkey, while the remaining members were recruited within Russia.
The assault on Crocus City Hall occurred on the evening of March 22. Several armed individuals stormed the concert hall, opened fire on the crowd, and subsequently set the building on fire. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 133 lives and left 182 individuals injured.
