Air Samarkand sets to increase its fleet to 8 Airbus aircraft by the end of 2024. While Air Samarkand currently operates charter flights, regular flights are set to begin at the end of March, coinciding with the start of the summer navigation season. Istanbul, a vital hub, features prominently in the airline’s plans. Under the leadership of Anton Khojayan, the airline's CEO, Air Samarkand plans to enhance its operations and connectivity in the coming years.
Fleet expansion target
Air Samarkand’s strategic vision involves bolstering its fleet to meet growing demand and improve connectivity. By 2025, Air Samarkand expects to acquire an Airbus, further strengthening its position in the aviation industry.
Current fleet snapshot
As of now, Air Samarkand operates two Airbus aircraft:
1. A330-300: Delivered last November, this wide-body aircraft ensures comfortable long-haul flights.
2. A321ceo: Another recent addition, the A321ceo serves shorter routes efficiently.
The airline is eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more A321neo aircraft in the coming weeks. These modern and fuel-efficient planes will contribute to Air Samarkand’s growth trajectory.
Khojayan commended the opening of a new terminal at Samarkand Airport. Describing it as “first-class,” the terminal provides a seamless experience for travellers and aligns with the historic city’s heritage.
Expanding horizons
Anton Khojayan identified China, Malaysia, and Indonesia as potential destinations for expansion. Additionally, the company aims to establish routes to the Middle East and Europe. Although specific launch dates remain undisclosed.
“We will not limit ourselves to connecting flights from Istanbul, Dubai, or any other city. Our goal is to address the flight needs of Samarkand residents and central regions, reducing reliance on connecting flights to Tashkent,” Khojayan emphasized.
