President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a gathering on February 16 in Bishkek, where he met with participants attending the Sixth Regional Dialogue of Security Council Secretaries/National Security Advisors on Afghanistan, presidential press service reported.
The conference drew high-ranking representatives responsible for security matters from Kyrgyzstan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The focal point of discussion was the pressing situation in Afghanistan, with President Japarov highlighting the multifaceted challenges and threats confronting the nation.
Addressing the audience, President Japarov underscored the gravity of terrorism, drug trafficking, and economic fragility as the primary concerns plaguing Afghanistan. He emphasized the necessity for collective action to address these issues effectively.
Expressing satisfaction with the coordinated efforts thus far, President Japarov commended the timely and comprehensive measures undertaken by regional countries. He particularly praised the cooperation within various international frameworks such as the CSTO, SCO, CIS, EAEU, and OTS, which have facilitated a cohesive approach toward Afghan matters.
President Japarov advocated for the swift utilization of frozen assets belonging to the National Bank of Afghanistan for the betterment of the Afghan populace. He reiterated Kyrgyzstan's commitment to providing humanitarian aid, including essential supplies like food and medicine, especially to those affected by recent natural disasters and residing in remote regions.
Furthermore, President Japarov expressed a willingness to foster economic and cultural ties with Afghanistan to alleviate the humanitarian and economic crises gripping the country.
Highlighting the imperative of continued international coordination, President Japarov emphasized that lasting progress in regional security hinges upon unified action. He affirmed that concerted efforts by nations and international organizations are indispensable for achieving tangible outcomes in bolstering global security.
The gathering concluded with a call for sustained dialogue and collaborative efforts to address prevailing challenges and ensure stability in the region.
