Afghanistan's Ministry of Finance reports that talks have been held in Kabul with Turkmenistan's counterparts on avoiding double taxation, expanding trade relations and increasing investment.
The next round will be held in the near future.
According to the Afghan side, the trade turnover between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $481mn in 2023. Electricity, oil and gas are Turkmenistan's main exports, while Afghanistan's main exports are marble, dried fruits, potatoes and soft drinks.
There are two checkpoints on Afghanistan's more than 800-km border with Turkmenistan: Aqina in Farab and Turgundi in Herat.
