Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are planning high-level visits, the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports.
Akmaljon Kuchkarov, Uzbekistan's ambassador in Ashgabat, told a briefing. "It is expected that high-level and high-ranking visits".
According to him, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov, have set new goals for increasing the volume of bilateral trade.
"The achievement of this goal will be facilitated by holding the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the Business Сouncil and the forum of regions of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan". Tashkent and Ashgabat plan to hold exhibitions "Made in Uzbekistan" and "Made in Turkmenistan".
Work will continue on the creation of a border trade zone at the junction of the borders of the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, it is planned to hold the Days of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Turkmenistan. Preparations are also underway for the joint celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen classicist Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
Bilateral trade volume increased more than fivefold between 2017 and 2023. At the end of last year, it stood at $1.094bn.
A Declaration on Deepening the Strategic Partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan was signed in October 2022.
