Uzbekistan experienced remarkable economic progress in 2023, marked by a substantial increase in average salaries across the nation, KAPDEPO reported . By the end of the year, the average salary saw an impressive annual growth of 17.2% , reaching UZS 4.55mn ($368).
Surprisingly, the Fergana region emerged as the leader in terms of white-collar salary growth, boasting a remarkable 19.1% increase. The following closely were Tashkent city with an 18.7% surge and the Jizzakh region with an 18.1% growth rate.
Breaking down the data by regions, Tashkent city secured the top spot with the highest average wages, standing at UZS 7.45mn ($601). Navoi and Tashkent regions also recorded substantial figures at UZS 5.9mn ($476) and UZS 4.5mn ($363), respectively. On the flip side, Namangan, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions reported relatively lower wages, ranging from UZS 3.3mn to UZS 3.38mn ($266-$273).
Industry-wise, the finance and insurance sector claimed the highest average salary at UZS 13.3mn ($1,074), followed closely by the information and communication sector at UZS 10.6mn ($856). The transportation and storage sector secured the third position with an average salary of UZS 6.9mn ($557). In contrast, healthcare and education remained at the lower end of the spectrum, with average salaries of UZS 3.0mn ($242) and UZS 3.1mn ($250), respectively.
This significant salary growth reflects the overall economic development and prosperity that Uzbekistan has witnessed over the past year. The highest recorded average wage for employees reached TJS 1,642 ($150), while the minimum stood at TJS 1.5 ($0.14) per month.
