The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has announced the launch of a new road freight route from China to Uzbekistan. This significant development in the logistics sector is expected to expedite the delivery of goods between the republic and the ports of the Yellow Sea.
Collaborative effort
The establishment of this corridor has been made possible with the support of the Union of International Road Carriers and government agencies of China. The Union of International Road Carriers, also known as the International Road Transport Union (IRU), is a global road transport organization that represents the interests of bus, coach, taxi, and truck operators.
Route details
The corridor, designed for carriers with a TIR Carnet document, commences in the city of Qingdao and traverses the entire People’s Republic of China from east to west, reaching Khorgos. From Khorgos, the route continues in transit through Kazakhstan.
The TIR Carnet is an internationally recognized customs transit document that enables goods to move under customs control across international borders without the payment of duties and taxes that would normally be due at importation.
Support for freight carriers
The Ministry of Transport has pledged to provide comprehensive support to freight carriers utilizing the corridors. This includes issuing visas for truckers, providing international permits for international transport, and resolving customs issues.
