Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region is set to produce computer devices in collaboration with several large Chinese companies.
A landmark agreement
The regional administration has reached an agreement to produce monoblocks, laptops, motherboards, video cards, and other computer devices in the Karshi free economic zone. The project is a collaboration with major computer technology companies Shenzhen T.D.S Electronic Technology, and Intel, all based in Shenzhen, China.
Project details
The initial cost of the project is $30mn, with an annual production target of more than 1mn products and devices. The project is set to launch in the 4th quarter of 2024.
Employment and training
The project will employ 120 people, most of whom will receive training in China and Uzbekistan with the participation of Chinese experts. This initiative aligns with the broader efforts in Uzbekistan to develop a skilled workforce capable of driving the country’s tech industry forward.
Earlier, it was reported that the Minister of Digital Technologies in Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, visited the Pegatron factory, the largest electrical engineering manufacturer in China. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for launching the production of ASUS products in Uzbekistan.
