President Emomali Rahmon of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, at the Palace of the Nation, the president’s press service reported. The meeting showcased the commitment of both nations to further develop and deepen their multifaceted and long-term bilateral cooperation.
President Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing progress in the relations between Tajikistan and Turkey and stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in various areas for the mutual benefit of both countries. The leaders discussed the need to strengthen ties in economic, social, and cultural spheres, reaffirming their commitment to intensifying the collaborative efforts.
Economic cooperation took center stage during the meeting, with both parties emphasizing the importance of the joint Intergovernmental Commission's systematic activities. Forums for entrepreneurs and exhibitions of industrial goods were identified as effective tools to promote bilateral economic collaboration.
The discussions also touched upon the fields of education, science, culture, and tourism. Both sides recognized the significance of cultural exchanges, with the proposal of holding cultural days on each other's territory as a measure to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties.
Beyond bilateral matters, the leaders addressed current regional and global issues, highlighting the political situations in Afghanistan and Palestine. The two nations expressed shared concerns and viewpoints on these matters, demonstrating a common understanding of the challenges facing the region.
Minister Hakan Fidan's diplomatic tour also included meetings with other Central Asian leaders. In Kyrgyzstan, President Sadyr Japarov expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum characterizing bilateral cooperation. The leaders discussed various issues, including the anticipated visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Kyrgyzstan and the importance of the upcoming Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission meeting in Ankara.
In Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Minister Fidan engaged in discussions with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov. The talks covered a wide range of topics, including trade, energy, transportation, construction services, interparliamentary cooperation, education, cultural, and consular matters.
