President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting in Navoi region to assess the effectiveness of ongoing reforms and chart out new development plans aimed at boosting employment and investment. According to the presidential press service, over 10,000 new jobs will be created in the region through a wave of upcoming projects.

During the meeting, it was revealed that over the past eight years, Navoi region has implemented more than 7,000 projects worth $8bn, generating 73,000 jobs and tripling the number of entrepreneurs from 10,000 to 30,000.
In the first half of 2025 alone, the region attracted $643mn in investments and exported goods worth $635mn. Industrial capacities worth $550mn and over 1,100 trade and service facilities have also been launched in that time.
Despite these achievements, President Mirziyoyev emphasized that the region still has significant untapped potential, especially in its vast pasturelands and mineral reserves. Notably, Navoi holds 20% of Uzbekistan’s mineral resources and 43% of its pastures.
At the meeting, new investment proposals from local entrepreneurs and foreign investors were presented. These include $566mn in planned investments across eight mines located in G‘ozg‘on, Nurota, Khatyrchi, Navbahor, and Uchkuduk. These projects are expected to boost industrial output by UZS 2.5 trillion ($199.7mn) and generate $100mn in exports.

In Nurota district alone, plans are underway to develop an industrial zone on 50 hectares to process the area’s 750mn cubic meters of granite reserves. The district is also home to over 5,000 women engaged in embroidery, and plans are in place to scale up this craft by opening Embroidery Centers in 28 neighborhoods.
The government aims to support low-income families through new social initiatives, including the distribution of solar panels and mobile shops to increase household income and reduce poverty.
The region’s 3mn hectares of pastureland offer significant opportunities for agriculture and livestock farming. One notable example includes an entrepreneur in Qiziltepa who is using rain-fed and drip irrigation technologies to grow export-oriented crops. Plans are also in place for him to expand into livestock farming and milk processing.
Altogether, an additional $1.6bn worth of investment projects have been identified, expected to create over 10,000 jobs, generate UZS 1 trillion ($79.9mn) in state budget revenues, and open up $238mn in export opportunities.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between large enterprises and small businesses. He called for measures to ensure guaranteed orders and supply chain links that enable smaller firms to thrive alongside industry giants.
Other key areas of focus include improving water supply to pastures, increasing food production, and supporting tourism and service industries. With average wages in Navoi 1.5 times higher than in other regions, the region presents both rising demand and opportunity for growth in retail and leisure.
Instructions were given to develop parks, recreation areas, and expand tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors and improve the quality of life for residents.
The meeting concluded with directives to ensure the economic efficiency and social inclusiveness of all projects, signaling a broad-based push to make Navoi a regional economic engine for Uzbekistan’s future.
