In a move aimed at strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Mongolia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bobur Usmanov, engaged in virtual negotiations with his Mongolian counterpart, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Amartuvshin Gombosuren, on January 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.
The video conference marked a significant step towards intensifying bilateral contacts at all levels. During the discussions, both parties took stock of the progress in implementing previously agreed-upon initiatives and highlighted the need for continued cooperation.
The negotiations encompassed a broad spectrum of topics, with a particular focus on proposals for enhancing trade and economic collaboration. Both nations expressed a keen interest in expanding partnerships in the realms of culture, education, and tourism. The exchange of views also extended to the schedule and various facets of joint events slated for the upcoming year.
This recent development comes on the heels of a practical visit by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United Arab Emirates on December 1, where he met with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. During this meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the longstanding friendship and multilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The discussions in the UAE centered around the implementation of agreements made during a prior meeting held in Samarkand in September. Notably, the leaders announced the decision to convene the inaugural meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Committee and the Businessmen's Council in the coming year. This strategic move is expected to provide a structured platform for advancing bilateral collaboration and fostering economic ties. As part of the agreements reached during these discussions, a comprehensive "roadmap" is being formulated.
