A bilateral agreement was signed between the Office of the Mufti of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the performance of Hajj in 2024.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports that this issue was discussed within the framework of the conference "Hajj and Umrah Services", which is held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) with the participation of delegations from more than 80 countries.
The Turkmen side was led by Mufti Yalkab Hojagulyev. "The purpose of this event is to create more comfortable conditions for pilgrims and enrich their religious and cultural experience."
According to a decree issued by Turkmenistan's president, the national airline operates a special flight for pilgrims every year.
Upon arrival in Mecca, they perform all the obligatory rituals of the hajj, then head to Medina and visit the resting places of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. Turkmens profess the Sunni branch of Islam.
