Turkmenistan is working to strengthen cyber security and train high-level specialists in this area, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports. This was stated by Mammetkhan Chakyyev, Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, at a government meeting.
"Relevant work in this area is being carried out in information centres that are being created in Turkmenistan as part of the concept for the development of the digital economy."
Turkmenistan is ranked 164 out of 176 in the global cyber security ranking, while Uzbekistan is ranked 94. The data was published in the National Cyber Security Index - NCSI.
The ranking took into account criteria such as the Global Cyber Security Index, the Information and Communication Technology Development Index and network readiness.
"The Cyber Security Centre of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Cyber Security Service under the agency "Turkmenaragatanashyk" (Turkmencommunication) in October 2022.
The purpose of the document is to identify, prevent and eliminate the consequences of computer attacks, threats to information security, protect information resources from viruses and hacker attacks using modern information security and management systems.
The signing ceremony took place during the Cyber Security Central Eurasia 2023 Summit held in the capital of Uzbekistan.
