The production of electric buses is set to commence in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, as per an announcement by the press service of the regional government. This initiative stems from a cooperative agreement forged during the official visit of the regional governor, Shuhrat Abdurahmanov, to China.
The governor held discussions with the leadership of Lanzhou Guangtong New Energy Automobile at the Uzbekistan Embassy in China, culminating in the signing of a bilateral memorandum valued at $100mn. The memorandum outlines plans to undertake a project with the goal of manufacturing 2,000 electric buses annually in the region.
Additionally, as part of the collaboration with Lanzhou Guangtong New Energy Automobile, the production of electric scooters is also on the agenda for Andijan.
Uzbekistan has numerous previous agreements regarding the acquisition and production of electric buses.
Recently, "Dilshodtransservis" has introduced 10 newly acquired buses from the Chinese company CRRC, designed to meet contemporary standards.
Earlier, Chinese Dongfeng secured an agreement regarding the establishment of an electric bus manufacturing company in the Fergana region following the signing of agreements between the area and Chinese companies across multiple sectors.
