Representatives from Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom are set to embark on a collaborative healthcare project, as revealed in recent discussions between officials from the Uzbek diplomatic mission and Charles Loudon, coordinator of the British non-governmental organization Lead Exposure Elimination Project (LEEP), along with the organization's manager, Bal Dhital, Dunyo reports.
The focal point of the joint venture is to assess the level of lead content present in various paints and similar products commonly used in everyday life across Uzbekistan. LEEP will conduct a comprehensive study on paints available in the local market, analyzing their lead content. Subsequently, the organization plans to submit recommendations to the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health and Ministry of Construction. The entire project, with an allocated budget of $250,000, will be fully funded by LEEP.
The initial phase involves the visit of a British delegation to Uzbekistan from January 8 to 26. During this period, a collaborative "Lead Reduction Skills Lesson" will be conducted in partnership with the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health.
It's noteworthy that LEEP collaborates with esteemed organizations such as the United Nations Environment Program and the World Health Organization. Additionally, LEEP is a proud member of the International Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint.
