A delegation from the Fergana region in Uzbekistan, led by Khayrulla Bozorov, signed 32 agreements in China, including 29 investment and trade deals worth $1.37bn.
According to Fergana administration, one significant agreement involves Dongfeng Special Car Company, a major Chinese company, planning to manufacture electric buses in the Furkat district. They aim to produce 1,000 buses annually, with an estimated cost of $100mn.
Tunghsu Group will produce charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, investing $50mn, while Jiangxi Anchi New Energy Technology will make batteries for Dongfeng electric buses, with a budget of $30mn.
Dongfeng is a key player in China's automotive industry, manufacturing various vehicles, including electric buses. Tunghsu Group specializes in display components and has interests in alternative energy and real estate.
The delegation also agreed to trial a "Smart City" project in Fergana with Zhiyuanhui Information Technology, initially in two neighborhoods.
Four agreements, totaling $1bn, were signed with energy companies like China Power International, CAMC Engineering, Shaanxi Xiangsheng Industrial Group, and China Huadian Engineering Company for photovoltaic power stations in the Besharyk and Fergana districts.
Furthermore, they reached an understanding with Xinfadi, Beijing's largest wholesale food market, for the direct export of fruits and vegetables grown in the Fergana region.
Additionally, seven industrial projects worth $112mn are set to begin producing refined copper products, agricultural machinery, diapers, tiles, ceramic granite, and metal profiles. Jianhua Ceramics will produce tiles within the Kokand Free Economic Zone as part of a $25mn project.
