The Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of Kyrgyzstan has disclosed the number of foreign individuals who have been granted the status of "digital nomad."
Launched in pilot mode by the Kyrgyz government on September 29, 2022, the corresponding legal framework for this status was outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers a month earlier.
Over the span of 15 months since the initiation of the program, a total of 1,975 foreign citizens have acquired the designation of "digital nomads." This status is specifically designated for professionals in fields such as animation, graphic design, multimedia design, programming, IT product development, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Citizens from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Russia are eligible to participate in the program.
Individuals registered as "digital nomads" enjoy the privilege of residing in Kyrgyzstan without the obligation to register at a specific place of residence. Furthermore, they are exempt from the requirement of a work permit for a period of up to one year.
In addition to these benefits, "nomads" are automatically issued a personal identification number, facilitating the opening of local bank accounts and the receipt of government services.
