This comprehensive report, now in its fifth generation, provides a conceptual framework to gauge the development of these sectors, offering a valuable tool for regulators and policymakers.
The G5 Benchmark tracks the maturity of telecom markets through Generations 1 to 4 and extends to Generation 5 (Gen 5), encompassing the evolution of national digital markets. The latest report incorporates data from 193 countries, with a focus on four key pillars and 70 indicators, allowing each country to self-assess with a maximum score of 100 points.
Key Findings for Central Asian Nations:
1. Kazakhstan (Transitioning, Score: 45.99):
- In the year 2021, Kazakhstan was a transitioning country with a slightly lower score of 45.06.
2. Kyrgyzstan (Transitioning, Score: 49.07):
- In the year 2021, Kyrgyzstan was also a transitioning country with a slightly lower score of 46.30.
3. Tajikistan (Transitioning, Score: 31.17):
- Tajikistan was also a transitioning country in 2021 with a score of 30.25.
4. Turkmenistan (Limited, Score: 22.22):
- Turkmenistan's score remained unchanged since 2021.
5. Uzbekistan (Transitioning, Score: 41.98):
- Among all CA countries, Uzbekistan showed the greatest change, being a limited country with a score of only 17.90 in 2021, which was even lower than that of Turkmenistan.
