The recent visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Tashkent on December 19 has been hailed as a milestone in the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar, Dunyo News Agency reported.
Professor Tadeusz Bodio, from the Institute of Political Studies at Warsaw State University, shared his insights on the significance of this visit, particularly focusing on the ceremony where Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was honored with a high international award for his commitment to fighting corruption.
Professor Bodio reports that this visit has elevated the friendly ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar to new heights, extending beyond economic and political dimensions to global cooperation, notably in the fight against corruption. He highlighted the importance of the award ceremony held in Tashkent as a testament to the growing role of Uzbekistan in combating corruption on the international stage.
Expressing optimism about such international events, Professor Bodio believes that they will significantly contribute to strengthening global relations and fostering the exchange of experiences in the fight against corruption.
He acknowledged Uzbekistan's efforts in implementing reforms aimed at enhancing the openness and transparency of state activities, increasing accountability, reducing bureaucracy, and streamlining public services. Professor Bodio concluded that these reforms play a vital role in preventing corruption and are recognized on an international scale.
