On December 19th, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani visited Uzbekistan to attend the ceremony of presenting the esteemed International Anti-Corruption Award as reported by the President's press service.
This award, initiated by the Emir of Qatar in 2016, aims to recognize and celebrate the persistent efforts of outstanding public figures, experts, and journalists in the global fight against corruption.
“The award, established at the initiative of the Emir of Qatar, has been awarded annually since 2016 to prominent public figures, experts, and journalists in recognition of their efforts to combat corruption at the global level,” the message says.
The visit's agenda is multifaceted, involving negotiations that will delve into the practical implementation of agreements forged during President Mirziyoyev's state visit to Qatar on October 1-2 of this year.
The meeting offers a platform for an insightful exchange of views on both the international and regional agenda, fostering collaboration and understanding between the two nations.
Earlier, Daryo mentioned that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met with Qatar's former Prime Minister, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, to discuss diverse investment opportunities.
The meeting focused on projects spanning sectors such as hospitality, logistics, trade, and infrastructure, including the construction of a modern hotel complex in Bukhara and a trade residential complex in Tashkent.
Plans also involve joint funding for these initiatives, reflecting a shared commitment to successful implementation and strengthened cooperation. The collaboration aligns with a comprehensive "road map" for mutual economic and infrastructural development in Uzbekistan.
