Attracting foreign investment in major projects is a priority for Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry, presidential advisor Ashirguly Begliev told an industry meeting.
NebitGas also reports that Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov stressed the need for constant monitoring of ongoing large-scale projects, the introduction of modern technologies and the importance of effectively addressing the challenges posed by Turkmenistan's accession to the Global Methane Pledge.
The meeting also touched upon the use of digital systems in the complex's activities, ensuring uninterrupted operation of production facilities during the winter period, and developing cooperation with leading foreign companies.
Turkmenistan is one of the largest players in the region's energy market, selling natural gas to China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
Ashgabat has been implementing the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project since December 2015. Discussions are currently underway to secure and finance the construction of the Afghan section, which is more than 800km long.
Turkmenistan is seeking to diversify its economy, where the gas chemical industry is actively developing. Hydrocarbon-rich acreage in the national sector of the Caspian Sea is also up for international tender.
