Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat Power Company (DABS) says it has signed a protocol on Turkmenistan's participation in the implementation of the Noor Al-Jihad project in Afghanistan's Herat province.
Murad Artykov, director of Turkmenistan's international energy projects, held five-day talks with DABS management in Kabul. "There was a discussion about providing necessary equipment, expediting the work process, and addressing the demands and considerations of both parties".
This project involves increasing the capacity of Noor Al-Jihad substation from 110 kilovolts to 220 kilovolts.
Experts told Daryo that in previous years, Ashgabat built the Turkmen-Afghan power lines Imamnazar-Andkhoy, Serhetabat-Herat and Rabatkashan-Kalainau and towards the city of Mazar-e-Sharif at its own expense.
All these directions fit into the concept of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) transmission line project. According to various estimates, transit services could bring more than $100mn annually to the Afghan treasury.
