On December 11 at 07:35 Tashkent time (GMT+5), Uzbekistan Airways Flight HY102 from New York to Tashkent made an unexpected landing at St. Petersburg airport, Uzbekistan Airways press service reports.
The decision was made by the Boeing 787's commander in response to an onboard disturbance reported via radio.
The disruptive passenger, a 1991-born Uzbekistani citizen, was apprehended by local police upon landing. Following the required procedures, the aircraft is set to resume its journey to Tashkent.
The estimated arrival time for Flight HY102 at Tashkent is 13:00 Tashkent time (GMT+5). Authorities are investigating the incident, and passengers are expected to reach their destination with a delay.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan Airports announced a leadership change at Tashkent International Airport, named after Islam Karimov. As per an order issued by the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports on November 22, Jasur Polatov has been appointed as the acting director of Tashkent International Airport.
At the beginning of November Uzbekistan also held the second international specialized forum "Aviation and Logistics" at the Uzexpocenter, forming part of the TransLogistica Uzbekistan 2023 exhibition.
