Uzbekistan law enforcement agencies have apprehended Bakhtiyor Kudratullayev, popularly known as “Bakhti Tashkentskiy” and “Bakhti Yangiabadskiy,” in the capital city of Tashkent. The press service of the capital's Main Department of Internal Affairs confirmed the arrest.
Kudratullayev, 52, is suspected of committing serious crimes under Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, including extortion on a huge scale (punishable by imprisonment from 10 to 15 years) and illegal activities involving narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The arrest occurred on November 28 in his apartment near the Grand Mir Hotel in the capital.
Alongside Kudratullayev, two other individuals, Dilshod Tulkinovich Sharipov (born in 1980) and Anvar Babarazhabovich Mirzakhanov, were also detained under suspicion of large-scale extortion. The report suggests that these individuals were involved in the illegal receipt of funds through threats and the use of force.
The law enforcement agencies have urged citizens who may have been victims of these individuals’ actions to contact the Main Department of Internal Affairs via phone at 71−206−45−69, 71−206−49−46 or 102, or via Telegram at 99−370−73−94. The confidentiality of the applicant’s identity is assured.
This operation is part of a larger effort by Tashkent law enforcement agencies to identify and detain “street gangs” and criminal groups, to improve the criminal situation in the capital. Recently, the Tashkent police department also detained Saidaziz Saydaliyev, known by the nickname “Sayidaziz medgorodok,” along with several others, on suspicion of extortion.
