In the 2023 Prosperity Index, Kyrgyzstan has been ranked 94th, nestled between Turkey and Belize. This information is according to a report by the British analytical centre, the Legatum Institute, which evaluates global prosperity based on various societal and public welfare parameters.
The index considers a range of indicators including economics, entrepreneurship, governance, education, health, safety, personal freedoms, social capital, and more.
Kyrgyzstan’s performance was notably poor in the areas of enterprise working conditions (124th place) and market access and infrastructure (110th place). However, the country fared better in terms of safety, securing the 71st position.
Other rankings for Kyrgyzstan included personal freedoms and investment climate (103rd and 99th places respectively), healthcare (76th place), housing conditions (84th place), and education (85th place).
Among Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan led the way at 69th place, followed by Uzbekistan (100th), Turkmenistan (107th), and Tajikistan (113th).
Estonia topped the list among former USSR states, securing the 21st position, followed by Latvia (31st), Lithuania (32nd), and Georgia (53rd). Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia were ranked 78th, 74th, and 77th respectively.
The top five most prosperous countries were Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Switzerland. The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Iceland, Germany, and New Zealand also made it to the top ten. South Sudan was ranked last, securing the 167th position in the index.
