The film “Evrilish” (“Evolution”), directed by Yolkin Tuychiyev, has been honoured with a prestigious award at the “Listapad” International Film Festival in Minsk. The film was showcased on the Day of Uzbek Cinema, standing out among 2,087 submissions from 107 countries.
“Evrilish” was recognized with the special prize of the CIS Executive Committee, “Cinema without Borders”. The film, shot in locations spanning Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, and the UK, features an ensemble cast including Olmas Uraev, Bakhrom Matchonov, Botir Abdurakhmonov, Zhurabek Arziev, and Ilmira Rakhimdzhanova.
Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, Leonid Anfimov, highlighted that “Evrilish” underscores the importance of preserving humanism, mercy, and feelings of friendship and love for loved ones, irrespective of life’s circumstances and trials.
Uzbek cinema, with its roots dating back to the first film screening in Tashkent in 1897, has a rich and diverse history. Modern Uzbek cinematography reflects the country's culture, history, and lifestyle, and is also renowned for its compelling documentaries. This recent accolade for “Evrilish” further cements Uzbekistan’s position in the global cinematic landscape.
