Newly appointed Malaysian Ambassador Mohd Suhaimi Ahmad Tajuddin presented copies of his credentials to Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry reports that the meeting emphasised the dynamic and long-term nature of trade and economic relations. The fuel and energy complex, advanced technologies and investment were identified as current areas of cooperation.
Mohd Suhaimi is a career diplomat, having worked in the United States and Singapore. Since July 2020, he has served as deputy director-general of the ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat.

Experts told Daryo that Turkmenistan's largest investor is Petronas Charigali, which has invested $11bn as of 2021. The company operates on the shelf of the Caspian Sea. Negotiations are now underway to extend the Production Sharing Agreement until 2038.
