The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Rashid Meredov and Bakhtiyor Saidov, have reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events during a meeting in Ashgabat.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the two sides exchanged views on the current agenda of bilateral relations. "The ministers focused on current issues related to the implementation of the agreements reached during the summit talks."
Earlier in November, Meredov and Saidov signed a "roadmap" in the Turkmen capital on the further development of cooperation between the two countries.
The document outlines key areas of joint activity in the political, cultural, trade and economic spheres, as well as cooperation in energy, transport, logistics, water management and environmental protection.
Turkmenistan is becoming one of the largest foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan. In January-September 2023, total trade turnover totalled $830.3mn, up 1.9% from a year earlier.
Uzbekistan imported $700.9mn worth of products from Turkmenistan and exported $129.4mn worth of products to the country. Turkmenistan ranked sixth among Uzbekistan's trade partners in the reporting period, up three points from a month earlier.
