A pivotal moment unfolded as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic inked the first-ever 7-year Country Cooperation Strategy (referred to as the Strategy) until 2030. This significant development aims to propel health initiatives, fostering collaboration and advancements in Kyrgyzstan's healthcare landscape.
Signing Ceremony Highlights
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures, including Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, Dr. Liviu Vedrasco, WHO Representative in Kyrgyzstan, and Dr. Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event delved into the Strategy's priorities, showcasing Kyrgyzstan's recent achievements in the health sector and outlining future steps for robust collaboration.
Strategic Directions and Priority Areas
The new Strategy encompasses three strategic directions and seven priority areas, highlighting a comprehensive approach to healthcare. Key focus areas include cardiovascular diseases, mental health, emergency response, antimicrobial resistance, environmental health, chemical safety, human resource attraction to rural areas, and data digitalization.
Emphasis is also laid on bolstering primary health care, enhancing access to health services, and addressing critical issues such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, immunization, and maternal, newborn, and child health.
Alignment with National Health Development Program
The Strategy is intricately aligned with the National Health Development Program until 2030, titled "A Healthy Person is a Prosperous Country," ensuring a cohesive and synchronized approach towards healthcare objectives.
Innovative Approach and Global Initiatives
Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, commended the innovative nature of the Country Cooperation Strategy, emphasizing its role in elevating health and well-being in Kyrgyzstan across seven key areas.
“The Country Cooperation Strategy we are signing today is truly innovative. It will not only strengthen our work on health and well-being in Kyrgyzstan in 7 key areas over the next 7 years, but will also showcase the country’s role beyond its borders in advancing initiatives including the Health in the Mountains Agenda, the Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer, and the Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia, 2022-2025,”

Minister's Confidence in Health System Development
Dr. Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed confidence that the newly signed Strategy would play a pivotal role in advancing the health system of Kyrgyzstan. He underscored the commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to the citizens of the country.
