Turkmenistan has signed a confidentiality agreement with Thales Alenia Space, the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reports.
"A tripartite confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement was signed in Ashgabat between the closed joint stock company Türkmen hemrasy and Thales Alenia Space and Eutelsat (France)".
Thales Alenia Space built the first national satellite, TürkmenAlem-52E, which was launched in 2015 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA
Experts told Daryo that Turkmenistan plans to launch its second communications satellite in the next five years. A French company is once again offering its services.
The new satellite is expected to provide environmental monitoring of oil fields, pipeline corridors and refineries, including oil spill detection and monitoring of oil and gas companies.
It will also increase the efficiency of monitoring the progress of infrastructure construction and the ecological state not only of the land but also of the Caspian shelf.
