A branch of South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. (Daewoo E&C) has been opened in Ashgabat, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
This will allow the company to strengthen its positions in Turkmenistan, where it has been working for several years on the implementation of a number of projects ordered by the state concern "Turkmenchemistry".
"Daewoo E&C aims to become a partner of Turkmenistan not only in the monetisation of hydrocarbon resources, but also shows interest in participating in other promising projects in the fields of energy, transport and infrastructure".
Daewoo E&C plans to sign a contract by the end of the year to build the region's largest plant for the production of blue ammonia, i.e. by processing natural gas, in Turkmenistan's Balkan region.
Turkmenistan will be able to export the low-carbon energy to European countries, the company said in a press release.
