Kyrgyzstan's commissioner for child rights attends CIS meeting on child well-being and protection in Minsk

The Commissioner for the Rights of the Child of the Kyrgyz Republic, Asel Chynbaeva, played a significant role in the second meeting of the Commission of the Commissioners for the Rights of the Child (Ombudsmen) from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in Minsk. The event brought together representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and included participation from the CIS Economic Court, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Participants, and the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting, which took place in Minsk, served as a platform to address crucial issues concerning the well-being and rights of children across the CIS countries. Eleven key topics were discussed, ranging from enhancing the well-being of children to simplifying the integration of labor migrants into the host society, as well as the prevention of offenses among minors through the use of restorative mediation tools. These discussions reflect the shared commitment to ensuring the rights and protection of the younger generation.

One of the central outcomes of the meeting was the approval of the commission's work plan for 2023-2024, which encompasses approximately 35 events. These planned activities are designed to advance the primary objective of the commission, namely safeguarding the rights and legitimate interests of children across the CIS nations.

In addition to the productive discussions within the meeting, Commissioner Asel Chynbaeva engaged in a working meeting with the Secretary General of the CIS, Sergey Lebedev. A bilateral meeting with the Presidential Commissioner for the Rights of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova, was also part of her agenda. These meetings emphasized the importance of prioritizing child protection in today's world, recognizing it as one of the most vital concerns for each state and society at large.

As part of her visit to Belarus, Commissioner Chynbaeva also visited the National Children's Technopark, a notable institution dedicated to providing free education for children and youth. This program focuses on improving educational conditions to foster the development of creative potential, acquire new knowledge, enhance professional skills, and broaden horizons for young individuals.
