Emmanuel Macron has expressed his readiness to support Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). During a meeting between the presidents of Uzbekistan and France on November 2, marking the first visit by a French president to Uzbekistan in 30 years.
The press service of the president reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, acknowledged the importance of Macron's visit and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality shown to the French delegation. Macron, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the invitation and affirmed France's commitment to supporting Uzbekistan's efforts to enhance confidence in Central Asia.
Macron emphasized France's support for Uzbekistan's WTO membership and the early signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union. The importance of maintaining a political dialogue, strengthening cooperation in security matters, and effectively addressing emerging threats and risks was also emphasized during the meeting.
Both parties acknowledged the rich agenda of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, noting the increasing interest in learning the French language in Uzbekistan. In this context, they welcomed the establishment of a branch of the French alliance in Samarkand.
It was agreed to expedite the establishment of a Uzbek-French higher education institution in Tashkent and expand cooperation in training French language teachers.
