Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Rashid Meredov and Bakhtiyor Saidov noted "active and dynamic nature of bilateral relations" during a meeting in Ashgabat.
The parties discussed the schedule of upcoming events and meetings at the top and high levels, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The diplomats noted the high level of mutual understanding between the parties and the similarity of positions in the framework of activities at international platforms, primarily at the UN.
The ministers also underlined the significance of the trilateral summit held in Ashgabat in August this year with the participation of the leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which gave new impetus to the further development of regional cooperation.
Last year, two-way trade between the neighbouring countries amounted to $926.3mn, five times more than in 2017.
As well as buying Turkmen energy, Uzbekistan is an important transit country. Two major gas pipelines pass through its territory, through which Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China and the CIS.
The two countries recently agreed to establish a border trade zone that would cover the adjacent territory of Turkmenistan's Dashoguz region and Uzbekistan's Khorezm region.
Turkmenistan has previously offered to allow cargo from Uzbekistan access to the international Caspian port of Turkmenbashi to reach markets in the Caucasus, Europe, Russia and Iran.
